Craftin' it up!: My first go at making little plush toys

You know, when I get back to studying again... I don't think I would be very active creating posts for this blog any more. Poo. :(

Okay so for the past  two weeks, I've gotten into making little cute felt toys!
The first couple of toys I did..... Oh boy did I fail....
I lost complete motivation... But after looking at my bundle of unused felt, I couldn't let it go to waste!

(By the way, do you guys like my new banner!!! :D and I've added tabs too *yay*)

Well this is a post to show my progress into creating felt toys over the past week.

I never realised that the felt toys had to have more than 2 sides to be 3d....
Yeah... I'm silly. So, mind me.

Rabbit, Bear & Heart:
I never realised that the felt toys had to have more than 2 sides to be 3d....
Yeah... I'm silly. So, mind me.
I made these a few days ago.... It was depressing after finishing it because they were so incredibly ugly and odd-shaped. :(

So I made a little sack for them to go in to make them look cute!

Sack for all the goodies:
Hehe, it can tie up too!

After being a bit sad for a few hours... I stayed up til' 4am making these next little felt pieces.

Strawberry:
I made this in the most complicated way possible... I realised shortly afterwards that I could have done it in a so much easier way which would have taken up half the time! :(

Egg tart:
One of my boyfriend's favourite sweets are egg tarts, so I decided to make him a little keychain of it :3

Tomato:

The next morning, I wanted to make a little tomato!
It's the teensiest thing ever!!!

Christmas Tree:
I made this at 6am on Christmas... Damn my sleeping habits.
Check out my tutorial for it here if you're interested

Bear:
I made this yesterday! I cut 4 pieces to make it 3d :D
I was super happy with the results because it looked like a bear...
But the ears are crooked and so is he elastic hanging thing :( booo

Panda:
I think this is the most symmetrical plush I've made so far!
I stitched on the ears after sewing everything together :)
And I think the fabric is perfect for the skin of the panda!

Yay, I hope you enjoyed this post!
I hope I get better at this!!!
By the way, I bought a Hello Kitty advent calender from Big W last month because it was the cutest thing ever!

Well, it's past Christmas and I still haven't finished it ;(
Chocolate is so boring. After opening so many I secretly hoped for a gummy one to pop up. Oh well.

Bye!

Rabble: New Years Resolutions for 2012...

Hi!

I've come up with lists and lists of new years resolutions in the past which were unrealistic...
I guess this time I should be more detailed into what I should change or improve in!

Here are my last years new years reso's....

Obviously I had not followed a couple of those..
And I had not once read a book this whole year.. eh... unless Archie Comics counts?
For number 8, after chatting to my sister... I've realised that I have so long until I finish tafe & uni. I don't have to consider these parts... I've always been stressing about this when the things I can work as is so broad.

So for next year I decided that I'll grab a couple of those and not try to have 10 points.
Just however many I think I can achieve... And definitely be more descriptive as to why and how I'll achieve it.

I should not have to wait for New Years to come around for me to want to make changes to my life,
I know. But I'm just like that...

New Years Resolution for 2012

1. Take better care of my body
Since I had turned 16, my big sister has always said "Your body is a temple. Treat it like one.".
I never really understood what she meant until now.... I am not taking this quote as a religious meaning. I have completely treated myself like shit.
I'm going to be living in this body forever and what I put in myself will affect me forever (And I mean developing habits wise...).
I plan to take better of my body by...
* Drinking lots of water, lots in my definition will mean at least 2cups a day...  I am a lazy poo so I'll have to refill two little bottles daily to remind me of this.
* Exercise.. I can say this as much as I want but I won't do it. I will not go outside for a jog...I'm just lazy like that. So I'm going to have to develop some sort of routine to keep me going. I also plan on walking as much as I can! Hot weather is an exception to this...
* Not consuming alcohol often (<5x/year) ... It's so so so so so so bad for you! And I always feel like complete shit afterwards. Alcohol can bring on so much bad things. I'd rather not take the risk.

2. Do not mind people who do not matter
I can't even put this into words right now without sounding like a sappy poo.
It's sad that it's taken me a year to take this in..
I shouldn't care for the remarks, opinions or advice of people who would not act out the same.  People can talk like they're king of the world to you, but once it's upon them, it's a different story.
Another point is that I should not make effort with people I should not expect it back from. No matter how lonely I get, I will never feel regret.
I need to stop taking other people's advice, since I'm the only one dealing with the consequences.

3. Make something new every week
Every year I feel incomplete... As if I had not fulfilled anything.
So I've decided that I will commence a new project every week. Projects would only be arts and crafts of course! I plan to make decorations, plushies, clothes, etc.
These projects, depending on the difficulty would take up 1~3 hours of one day and would make me all cheery and happy once completed!

4. Learn to love and enjoy life more
This is quite a far step for me to reach... I'll have to be able to achieve all the points about first before being able to be happy or even content about myself and where I am now.

And that is my list of New Years Reso's for 2012!

Lets see how I go with this...

{D.I.Y} Christmas Card: Snowflakes & Rhinestones

Hi!

I made a Christmas card for my pops and his wife this year ☺

It took me 1 hour of me sitting there and thinking of what to do....
I just stared at my scraps of paper for hours until it came to me!
I decided to make something super basic!
As long as you have the supplies, anyone can do it :)

We're going to be learning how to make one of these babies!

Level: Easy

Resources needed:
Pencil/ Pen
Scissors
Small decorations (Beads, stickers, nail art)
Tacky Glue (Test it on your working area first!)
Glue stick
Tweezers
Construction paper (Or you can colour one in yourself!)
Card stock or a white piece of paper folded in half

Part 1: Snowflake

Step 1.
My snowflake is going to be in pink so I cut a piece of scrap paper in a square.
(Mind the creases, I forgot I was going to do a tutorial on this.... ha.)

The size of this square will be 0.5~1cm more than the size of the final result of your snowflake will be.

I decided for my snowflake to take up half the space. You can have it wherever you want and which ever size you want on the card!
Step 2.

Fold the square in half so it becomes a triangle

Step 3.

Folding this part is to divide the snowflake into 6 sections (when unfolded), so one side makes 3 sections.

Fold the right corner to the middle so it takes up half of it. This is a bit tricky to get at first so don't fully crease it until you're certain it'll be even.

Step 4.

Now fold the left side over and both sides should be symmetrical.

Out of my 4 times folding this part, I've made mistakes in half of them... I'm not very good at approximating.

Step 5.

Draw out how you'll like your snowflake to turn out like...

Note: Remember that this is 1 out of 6 parts of the snowflake so this cut out will be copied 6 times!

You don't have to draw it out by the way, you can just wing it if you please :)

Step 6.

Now use your scissors to snip away!!!

Step 7.

Finished product!

Step 8.

Now unleash....

Step 9.

It looks too much like a web so I decided to snip it a bit!

Step 10.

*snip snip

Step 11.

Yay!

Now that your snowflake is done, lets stick it onto the card and decorate the cover!

Part 2: Decorations!

Step 1.

Gather your goodies...
Decorations for the card, tweezers and glue!

I decided to stick to a light colour scheme, being pink and silver.

Using a gluestick, glue your snowflake where ever you wish on your card!

Step 2.

I used a pencil to dot glue on the card of where I wanted the rhinestones to be.

Tweezers were used to drop them onto the glue dots!

Easy peasy :D

Step 3.

*Dot dot

Step 4.

I used blu-tack to hold on to the little beads.
They were way too small to hold... I lost so many!!!

Once you're done with all the little decorations... You're done!!

Ta daaaaaa!

Look at em' lil silver beads!!! Cutest!

And we're finished!
Wasn't that easy :D

Yay!
